A pooja space should feel calm and clean, even in a small flat. These ideas fit most apartments.
Choose the type
- Wall-mounted unit: saves floor space and suits compact flats.
- Cabinet-style mandir: closes with doors, which keeps the space tidy and private.
- Corner unit: uses an unused corner of the living or dining area.
- Dedicated room: if space allows, a small room with a door and window.
Materials
Use marble, stone or a durable laminate that is easy to wipe. For jali panels and carved doors, wood or MDF with a good finish works. Keep the base level safe for diyas and incense.
Lighting
Warm LED lights behind the deity space or a cove strip create a gentle glow. Add one small spot to light the idol without glare.
Storage and ventilation
Include a drawer for puja items, matchboxes and incense, and keep a small gap for smoke to escape, or place the unit near a window.
Placement
Many families follow Vastu or family tradition for direction. Tell us at the start and we will plan around it where the flat layout allows.
