A well-planned wardrobe keeps a bedroom calm. These ideas help you plan before you order.
Sliding or hinged doors?
- Sliding: saves swing space, good for small bedrooms. Only part of the wardrobe opens at once.
- Hinged: full access to everything and easy to add mirrors and internal lights, but needs clear floor space.
Go full height with a loft
Take the wardrobe up to the ceiling. The loft stores bedding, suitcases and seasonal items, and avoids dust-collecting gaps above.
Plan the inside
- Long hanging for sarees, kurtas and dresses
- Short hanging for shirts and tops
- Drawers for innerwear and accessories
- A small lockable section for valuables
- Pull-out trouser and tie racks
Finishes that last
Laminates are durable and easy to clean, acrylic gives a glossy modern look, and veneer adds warmth. Use moisture-resistant boards and good hinges, since wardrobes face the monsoon humidity.
Light and mirrors
An internal LED strip and a full-length mirror make the wardrobe more useful. Place the mirror where it does not face the bed directly.
